INTRODUCTION
Yeasts are eukaryotic microorganisms classified as fungi. They are often found in the human mouth, throat, large intestine, and vaginal tract. Yeasts grow in warm, moist environments, such as in mucous membranes and folds of tissue. Because the intestinal and vaginal tracts can be vulnerable to pH changes, maintaining healthy pH balance is an important factor in restoring yeast and microflora balance.†1

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Probiotic Benefit
L. acidophilus Lactobacillus is a predominant genus found in the urogenital tract. The ability of Lactobacillus to attach to the cells lining the vagina and its ability to promote a healthy pH are critical to maintaining healthy yeast balance.†2,3
Lactobacillus acidophilus is one of the best studied probiotic species. It's ability to adhere to vaginal epithelial cells and colonize has been documented.†3,4 In multiple clinical studies, L. acidophilus has been shown to support healthy yeast balance.†5-7 In fact, one year-long clinical trial found that ingestion of an L. acidophilus supplemented yogurt yielded a 3-fold advantage in maintaining healthy yeast balance versus placebo.†7 Additionally, L. acidophilus has been shown to support healthy yeast balance in the oral cavity (mouth) in an animal model study.†8

L. rhamnosus In a cell study comparing 34 Lactobacillus strains, L. rhamnosus was found to be the most effective in attaching to uroepithelial cells and supporting healthy microflora balance.†2
